Hello, I'm Andrew, a passionate landscape photographer based in the picturesque region of Yorkshire Dales. Photography became my lifeline during the lockdown, as I ventured out on my morning walks armed only with my iPhone and a love for capturing the beauty of nature. I started to plan walks around where I wanted to photograph.
My journey into photography truly began when I had an epiphany while walking around the tranquil lake at Buttermere. Though the sunrise was hidden behind thick clouds, I didn't let it deter me. Instead, I focused my iPhone on the enchanting rocks peering out of the water. The result left me in awe, and I realised that photography was my true calling. Those serene moments amid the natural beauty healed me, especially as I live with panic disorder. My photography endeavours soon became a vital part of my therapy, helping me control my symptoms and find solace in the great outdoors.
In January 2022, I upgraded to a Canon 250D and took control in manual mode, adding an extra layer of artistry to my work. Post-processing in Lightroom allows me to bring out the true essence of the landscapes I adore - waterfalls, woodlands, and, of course, the picturesque charm of trains, my favourite mode of transport.
Most of my photography revolves around my home region, where the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District offer an endless canvas of natural wonders. I've also developed the habit of creating projects and capturing a series of images from my adventures. This has not only honed my skills but also fueled my desire to share my passion and the knowledge I've gathered.
One of the beautiful aspects of my photography journey is meeting fellow photographers on location. It's something I wouldn't have dared to do before my photography adventure. Now, I eagerly strike up conversations, exchanging thoughts on our images, sharing experiences, and gathering recommendations. It's a wonderful way to connect with kindred spirits who share the same love for the art.
Through my photography, I aim to inspire others to slow down, appreciate the beauty of the world around them, and find solace in nature. I'm also passionate about learning and eager to continue my own photographic evolution. Join me as I explore new places, create breathtaking images, and pass on the skills and knowledge I've acquired on this incredible journey.
